Ketchup, or Catch-up?!
Is there anybody out there?

Hey y'all... sorry it's been so long since I have posted something on here. I have kind of become really busy with student teaching and everything else that entails. As I have said to several people... I am definitely making up for all of the years that I didn't have much homework to do.

Holy wah!

But, God is SO GOOD! He continues to amaze me in little ways every day... if I were to mention them all here I would fill up my alotted space.

I still have a lot of catch up to do with school work as well as updating this site. A lot of things have happened since. For example: I have visited my German host family on the farm several times (once with my American host family, once by myself, and once with "Stephi" Anstett), and I also chaperoned a class ski/snowboard trip to the Alps. Needless to say, I have a lot of updating to do... but sadly, no time to do it. :-( soon, though. There will be more pictures and "stuff".

Take care and God bless!

PS did anybody notice the mushrooms on my website?! why mushrooms? blech!

One week down... how many more?!
Holy wah!

Well, since this school operates on a block schedule each day is truly different. I've found that certain classes flow much smoother than others; especially when students have a certain mindset about what is required when coming into "Gym". I've accomplished ("survived" might be more like it) a whole week of teaching my PE classes (two are Lifetime Sport and one is Personal Fitness)! And, since one of the German teachers was sick-- I did some German too.

Let's just say that I am going to be pretty busy this semester...

I am learning the thoroughness of planning (not just "planning") that is necessary in carrying out a lesson. There are so many details... so I will spare you. Anyway, Monday is when I truly take over the two German classes. :-)

God is giving me the strength, and energy that is needed. Yep, I am definitely learning.

So, this weekend will be fun! I will post some pictures up (if I have time) on Monday... We are going to visit the Harles family in the Fichtelgebirge area. The city folk are going to the farm! I LOVE it there! The people and the surroundings and...

Oh, the weather here has been pretty neat too! We've had "hoar" frost... There is a thick fog and it is freezing causing the water/snow to stick to the branches and form snow-crystals. The trees (and grass) look so cool. Again, on Monday (hopefully) I will have time to share these pictures with you.

Until then, take care and God bless! Alles gute!

Suzie

Here I Am...
Well, I have gotten off to a pretty good start! I arrived safely in Germany and was picked up by the awaiting Harles family-- they had driven to Frankfurt airport the night before and slept in the car right outside the door where I would be arriving because it was supposed to snow a lot! what dedication and love! (I had lived with the Harles family for a year while I was an exchange student in Germany.)

I got to spend Sylvester (New Years) with our friends and for two days I played catch up with a lot of my German friends in the little village/town I lived in five years ago. It's so weird to see the little people all grown up, especially when they become much taller than you!

On January 2nd Reiner and Iris drove me to Winterhausen and dropped me off at my new host family's house, the Rahn's. I was to start school the next day. I believe I shocked them at first because I came in with my (normal) whirlwind. The girls showed me their rooms and then went off to bed, I stayed up and chatted with the "parents" for an hour as they gave me a tour of the house and "introduced" me... Did I mention that they are Americans? Yep, they are from Minnesota and the parents teach at the same school where I am student-teaching.

Sooo, since then I have been going to school every day... getting a feel for the classes I will be teaching next week when the new semester begins. I teach three different gym classes (two are lifetime sports and the third is personal fitness). I also teach two first year German classes. Military schools are a little bit different from typical high schools in the sense that there are a lot of students transferring in and out throughout the school year... and the kids carry a lot of "baggage."

Oh, I went on a skiing/snowboarding trip with the Rahn's and their "surrogate" grandparents... we went to Oberstdorf, a little village in the Allgau of the Alps. Actually we also skiied/snowboarded into Austria. It was tough, but someone had to go. I had never snowboarded on a mountain before! The runs were longer, there were "trails" we had to follow, and there were soooo many different kinds of lifts (chair lifts, cable cars, gondolas, "T" bars?) in which to take you back up. All I can say is: "Holy wah!" Oh, and not to mention I now know why you flip the snowboard over if you aren?t connected to it? did you know they go pretty fast without anyone on them? Whoops!

Yeah, I hope there will be more adventures to come... Actually, I am sure that there will be... so, stay tuned by making this following link a favorite, as well as this one http://hasenohr7.tripod.com/student_teaching/ I will keep it updated with pictures as a I take them. Honest!

So, please pass these links along to others because I don't have everyone's address, or have them contact me so I can add them to my e-mail list. Feel free to e-mail me back, or write me at:

Know something cool? I get a lot of the military privileges and that means if you were to mail me a letter (hint, hint) use the normal USA postage... as if I were living in the USA. And I can do the same... there's no extra overseas charge through the military. Neat, huh?

Hey, you know what else? I have found a really awesome church... they meet in the movie theater, they are Germans, it's a fairly younger crowd, and there are some "colleagues" that go to the service too. I've only been once, so we'll see if this is the church God wants me plugged into. My first Sunday I went to the famous Dom church in Wuerzburg. That was neat too, a really beautiful church and a nice service... except it feels like something is missing there. We'll see.

God's been SO good to me! He's blessed me and I can't thank Him enough! Keep me in your prayers as I am on one of the neatest mission trips ever! Thank you!

Take care and God bless!
